NERI Announces Launch of PRESERVE Study

The Society of Interventional Radiology and Society for Vascular Surgery jointly will launch PRESERVE—the first large-scale, multispecialty prospective study to evaluate the use of inferior vena cava (IVC) filters and related follow-up treatment.

FREEDOM Trial Sets Gold Standard for Treatment of Diabetics with Multivessel Disease

This was a multicenter, multinational, randomized trial comparing the effectiveness of percutaneous coronary interventions using drug-eluting stents (PCI/DES) compared to standard therapy of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in diabetics with multivessel coronary artery disease. The primary endpoint was a composite of death, stroke, or myocardial infarction. The trial enrolled 1,900 adults from 140 sites in 17 countries with median follow-up of 3.8 years. FREEDOM was supported by NIH grants HL071988 and HL092989 (FREEDOM ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT00086450).

NERI Study Finds: Normal Physical Development in Children Treated with Composites or Amalgam

September 12, 2012 - Today the International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) published a study titled “Dental Composite and Amalgam and Physical Development in Children,” by lead author Nancy Maserejian, New England Research Institutes. This study is published in the Journal of Dental Research, which the official publication of the IADR/AADR.

NERI Presented Results from Qualitative Study Examining Health of the Working Poor

NERI’s Center for Qualitative Research presented results from an in-depth case study about how a working poor family manages chronic illness and disability. This qualitative work was a sub-study of the Boston Area Community Health Survey. The presentation was part of a Health Disparities roundtable at the Eastern Sociological Society Annual Meeting in Boston, MA.
